Bio

Jay Perlmutter is a Managing Director at Buxbaum, where he helps companies across industries strengthen financial reporting and finance leadership in advance of transactions, audits, and periods of rapid change.

His work focuses on financial reporting, audit readiness, and fractional CFO leadership, frequently serving as a transaction CFO during sell-side processes. He helps management teams strengthen reporting, improve forecasting and budgeting, and build finance functions that stand up to buyer, lender, and auditor scrutiny.

He brings extensive experience across public accounting and industry finance leadership, having held senior roles at organizations including Warner Bros. Entertainment, Amgen, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and EY. He also has deep industry experience in aerospace & defense, manufacturing and distribution, and commercial and engineering services, and is known for a hands-on, practical approach to complex accounting and finance challenges.
